In its first appearance at the Center, the Branford Marsalis Quartet performs a program that includes original compositions, as well as modern jazz standards. The performance showcases the extraordinary talents of each of these contemporary jazz masters, including its leader, three-time Grammy-Award winner Branford Marsalis. Known for his unmatched technique, forward-thinking approach and incredible versatility, Marsalis is equally at home in intimate jazz clubs as he is in great concert halls, where he frequently appears as a soloist. A member of New Orleans’ first family of jazz, Marsalis has performed with many of the jazz giants including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins. “Few people are better known anywhere for making a jazz tune sizzle and swing,” says the Denver Post.
